I was in need for a computer repair shop and searched online for one close to me. I found A+Shacklette’s Computer Repair in Louisville, KY and went to his website. I noticed that he had several commendations from HomeAdvisor as well as an A+ BBB rating which strongly influenced my decision to use him. I’m sorry to say that I was terribly disappointed with his service. He quoted me a price of $195 to replace my failed hard drive. I assumed that his replacement would be the same capacity and quality of my original. Capacity size is the most important characteristic of a hard drive. What he didn’t bother to tell me was he planned on replacing my 2TB hard drive with a 240GB drive which was only 10% of the capacity I had. This very small drive would never meet my requirements for all of my backed-up data and programs. He also installed without my permission 2 remote access programs. This would enable him to access my computer at any time and without my knowledge. All indications are he sold me a used drive instead of a new one. Besides the remote spyware programs, there were numerous other unrequested programs on the drive. There was also some handwriting in black marker on the drive case. These are all most unusual to be found on a brand-new hard drive. He offered to issue a refund but only if I returned his replacement drive to him. I did not want him anywhere near my computer as I could no longer trust him. I suggested he deduct the cost of the part ($16.99 at Amazon) and credit the balance. For some inexplicable reason, he has refused to take the value of the drive he used and deduct it from the total charged. This makes no sense to be harassing me over a $16.99 part, and I believe there is something unknown about this particular hard drive that Mr. Shacklette wants to keep that way. Why won't Mr. Shacklette address the major issues of my complaint? Why did he install 2 spyware programs without my permission on my "new" drive, or isn't this a new drive? I believe there is something peculiar about this drive and that explains why he is so insistent in getting it back! He rejected my offer to give him back the value of the drive but that's not good enough! For some reason, he wants this drive and only this drive!
