Owner of Scottsdale Muffler and Automotive, Chris McCurdy, took a moment to speak with us about his business’ online reputation and dedication to serving their customers well. This is what we found out:
What is your secret to such a strong online reputation?
Customer service is everything. We have very competitive pricing but we also know how important it is to be straightforward and upfront with our customers. We know that if we do great work for them and we sell them what they need, they will keep coming back to us.
What makes you different? In other words, if you had one minute to sell somebody on why they should choose you, what would you say?
We are a family-owned company, and for the most part, have had all the same employees for the last several years. You will see the same faces when you come in, and we get to know our customers on a personal level. All my guys are extremely personable and friendly.
Why do you do what you do? In other words, what is your mission and/or how do you attempt to make the world a better place?
Everyone in our family was born and raised in the automotive industry; we love cars! My dad was in this business, and I grew up around cars. Our family has been in the racecar industry for a long time, and we are very passionate about what we do. With over 29 years in the business, we want to make sure we are doing exceptional work, building relationships with our customers, and doing what we love!
Outside of building a strong online reputation, what else do you do to market and grow your business?
Currently, it’s just word of mouth. In the next year, we will be looking to add to our staff. But for now, we stay very busy with regular customers and referrals.
What advice do you have for other businesses trying to build a strong online reputation and grow their business?
Be honest with people. Especially in my industry, people get nervous that we are going to try and up-sell them or have them fix things that aren’t a priority. We don’t do that. We make sure to tell the customer what is critical for their vehicle, and we are honest with them about what they may want to take care of down the road. People appreciate honesty.
