Manny Tamayo, the owner of Altered Image Barbershop, generously gave us a few minutes of his time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Altered Image Barbershop apart from the many other barber shops in New York. Manny pointed to his team’s unparalleled attention to detail and said:
“…We want you to have an experience that you can’t get anywhere else. We offer hot towel treatments, styling and a blow-dry, aftershave products, trendy music, etc. We want our clients to be satisfied so they feel comfortable enough to come back.”
Manny went on to say:
“I’ve been cutting hair since I was a teenager, because I was getting bad haircuts. The spark to become a barber started from there. One day, I would like to have a school to teach others how to do great work and give great service; that is one of my biggest dreams.”
