Not Your Average Barber Shop
We were excited to learn all about The Barber Shack and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Lisa Romano.
The Barber Shack is a one chair shop, so customer service, and a positive and personable one-on-one experience is guaranteed. Lisa specializes in servicing POC (people of color) and members of LGBTQ communities, and partners with organizations supporting these communities. She is trustworthy and said that when people open up to her about their lives, she is there to offer what help she can. She even checks up on her clients to make sure they are doing ok.
She told us that her business was built on blood sweat and tears, and that she worked hard to be able to open her own location.
Building Success with Fairness
The Barber Shack has only been open for a few years, but in that time it has managed to build an incredible reputation, online and off. Lisa told us that she does what she can to give back to the community, and offers police and military discounts as well as $10 haircuts at the homeless shelter.
There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as impressive a reputation as The Barber Shack has managed to. We asked if Lisa could share any expert advice with these companies. Here’s what she had to say:
“Be fair. Don’t try to gouge someone’s eye out just to make an extra buck. If I can do my services without having to overcharge anyone, then I’m doing my job right. Respond to all your customer reviews — that shows that you care!”
