Spa Manager, Kenna Long took the time to discuss Urban Escape Day Spa’s online reputation and commitment to excellence with us. This is what she had to say:
What is your secret to such a strong online reputation?
We have been blessed to stay a small, family-owned business for the past decade. Because of that, we’ve maintained a steady client base that has been extraordinarily appreciative of our care. They leave reviews because they want to support us!
What makes you different? In other words, if you had one minute to sell somebody on why they should choose you, what would you say?
I think that we do a really good job of hitting the middle ground between a basic massage and facial location and a high-end spa. We’re not trying to be a completely high-end spa. We really want it to be a very comfortable atmosphere so our clients don’t feel intimidated. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible service.
Why do you do what you do? In other words, what is your mission and/or how do you attempt to make the world a better place?
This all started when the spa’s owner (Robert)’s daughter (Adrienne) earned her esthetician’s license. Robert suggested opening a spa to take advantage of that. At the time, she thought the idea was a little bit wild — but here we are, 11 years later!
Outside of building a strong online reputation, what else do you do to market and grow your business?
We do a lot with word of mouth; we’re also in close connection with a lot of the small boutique hotels in town. People that are looking for something to do in town will call the front desk, who will then call us and get them a discount. We also tend to get quite a bit of foot traffic, due to our location in the heart of Golden.
What advice do you have for other businesses trying to build a strong online reputation and grow their business?
I think it’s important to really be in love with what you’re doing. It attracts people who want to work for you and attracts clients who can feel that you’re passionate about your job!
