We wanted to learn what makes Steam King different from other carpet cleaners in Missouri, so we took a few minutes to sit and talk with the owner/operator, Jeremy Smith.
The first question we had for Jeremy was what is it that sets his services apart from the many other carpet cleaners people could choose to work with in Missouri.
Jeremy shared with us that what sets his service apart is the fact that he cleans carpet right without cutting any corners. In contrast, a lot of his competition is made up of entry-level technicians who may take shortcuts because they are having a bad day or are letting their personal lives affect them.
Building Success by Doing What He is Supposed To
Jeremy attributes Steam King’s strong online reputation to his commitment to doing what he is supposed to do:
“I really don’t push for them to give a review. I may ask for a Google review because I’m trying to build them up. Otherwise, I just do what I say I’m going to do, treat the customer with respect and dignity, and try to meet their expectations…”
When we asked Jeremy how Steam King has grown outside of building a powerful online reputation, he told us that he’s tried a lot of new things, like Groupon, but that many of those strategies didn’t work for him. He’s now reached the point where he doesn’t have to do a lot of get the Steam King name out there, and he doesn’t have a lot of outside influence on his business.

“Don’t worry about everyone else is doing. Obviously, when you open your business, you have an idea of what you want to do, and I think that’s the most important thing.
