Not Your Average Carpet Cleaner
We were excited to learn all about Surface Surgeons and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Greg Pogue.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Surface Surgeons stand apart from their competitors. To start, every one of their technicians is certified through the IICRC. Greg shared that they are not at all a ‘one-size-fits-all’ company, and that their cleanings are completely customized to the needs of the individual clients. He told us that there are six recognized methods of carpet cleaning, that there are different conditions that require different methods of cleaning, and that they are the only company around that can perform all of them.
We asked Greg what their mission is at Surface Surgeons, and he described it for us as:
“[Our mission is] to improve the quality of life of every person we come in contact with. There are lots of ways to do that, but we choose to do that in this industry. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that you’ve made the client’s space healthier and happier while still being environmentally friendly.”
Building Success Through Organic Growth
Surface Surgeons has earned an impressive reputation, so we were excited to learn about some of the ways they have marketed and grown their company. Greg told us that they have done a little bit on advertising online and have worked with Angie’s List and Home Advisor. They have also done networking with real estate agencies and interior designers, who send them referrals. Their number one lead generator, however, is organic growth. Greg said:
“We don’t do a lot to ask for reviews. We just do really good service, and our clients are kind enough to spread the word!”
