We wanted to learn more about this two-time award winner and how they managed to build such an impressive online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with Spencer Saylor, Event Planner at Metro Cuisine.
The first thing we wanted to know was what makes Metro Cuisine a one-of-a-kind catering company in Ohio. Here’s what Spencer had to say:
“We are a small, family-owned business, but we operate on a huge scale. We do well over 2,000 events and orders a year, but we still ensure that every client feels like they’re an important part of our company. We make sure to communicate instantly and always be available for those clients, regardless of how large our client base gets. So that’s the one big thing that we bring to the table — that we still make people feel like they’re the only ones we’re working with. I think that other companies can get caught up in how busy they are and not give off that same persona to clients.”
We also asked Spencer what their mission is at Metro Cuisine and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s his response:
“Events are obviously something that can be stressful, especially to someone that’s never done one before, or maybe they are part of a large corporation and they don’t really have the time and the resources to be able to dedicate to their events. Well, our company does a great job of ensuring that we take over their event and make everything moving forward as easy as possible on them.”
He went on to add:
“We’re full-service, so we can offer everything from catering to all the different rentals and decor for events. We work very closely with our clients, as well. For us, it’s just ensuring that, from start to finish, their event is as easy as possible on them. We don’t want it to be a process that they have to continuously worry about and be stressed with as they get closer to their event.”
Building Success by Providing Great Service
Spencer attributes Metro Cuisine’s strong online reputation to their commitment to providing great service for their customers:
“We start working with clients and couples a year or more out, and we really ensure that we create a strong relationship with them, so that by the end of our time working with them, we feel like family to them and they feel like they are part of our Metro Cuisine family, too. For us, it’s easy to reach out to them after because they are happy with the event… We reach out and just say, ‘Hey, if you enjoyed everything, we would love for you to drop a line on our review websites and let people know that you enjoyed your time working with us.’”

“This an industry that relies heavily on reviews. You’ve got a lot of people who are getting married for the first time or throwing a party for the first time. They aren’t as familiar with the vendors and steps involved. Those happy clients’ reviews go a long way with booking future clients.”

“The big thing is obviously putting out a great product that you’re going to want to take photos of and share with future potential clients or other businesses and vendors that make you appear like you know what you’re doing, that you can pull off a great event and that they’re going to receive the same. Continue to make your clients feel as accommodated for as possible, and always being available to them. Make it such an easy process on them. This will very quickly make them want to get online, put your name out there and leave reviews…”
