Community Preschool of Loveland’s publicity coordinator took a moment to discuss the school, as well as their online reputation, with us. Here’s what they had to say:
What is your secret to such a strong online reputation?
We place major emphasis on family involvement. We’re a co-op preschool, so we require parents to volunteer throughout the year, and that’s a really big facet of our program. Our parents love the fact that they’re involved, and as far as our pedagogy is concerned, we’re a play-based preschool. We address the developmental needs of kids before they go to kindergarten by incorporating hands-on activities, field trips, music, and more. Families love that!
What makes you different? In other words, if you had one minute to sell somebody on why they should choose you, what would you say?
I can actually answer that from a bit of a different perspective than most, as I’m not only an employee, but a parent in this program. For our family, we chose community preschool because of its super-welcoming atmosphere. The teachers are very knowledgeable about what it takes to address the needs of young children prior to going to public school. Parents will be able to see that there’s a lot of active learning going on. When you visit or volunteer, you don’t walk in and see a bunch of children being talked at. They’re involved and hands-on with everything we’re doing. Our teacher’s aid, Ms. Tammy, is the first face you see when you walk through the door. She’s extremely genuine, loves to answer questions for our new families, and is very accommodating. We love her.
Why do you do what you do? In other words, what is your mission and/or how do you attempt to make the world a better place?
There are five key values that drive our program and push us to do what we do:
- Allow kids the time to explore and discover
- Encourage independence during playtime
- Provide tools for creative expression
- Encourage social development by introducing peer groups of the same age
- Provide a safe and secure environment away from home
Outside of building a strong online reputation, what else do you do to market and grow your business?
A lot of families come to us via word of mouth. Community preschool has been in Loveland for decades. In fact, I actually found Community preschool three years ago, when I was talking to a mother who sent her kids here in 2003. When it’s time for enrollment, we post on Facebook, but that’s about it. We post in mom and family groups announcing that we have openings, and it’s worked well for us. We also occasionally partner with parent and alumni businesses through our corporate sponsorship program.
What advice do you have for other businesses trying to build a strong online reputation and grow their business?
Coming from a business background, I’d say, “do a good job and people will talk to you.” If you do well, no one is going to write a bad review. They’ll refer you to other people. It’s that simple. Be the best at what you do.
