We wanted to learn a little more about Computer Max and its outstanding online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with the owner, Derrick Swain.
The first question we had for Derrick was what is it that sets Computer Max apart from their competition in Mississippi. Here’s his response:
“Like a lot of other businesses, it’s huge attention to detail and customer service. That’s all it is. We’re a repair shop, so the worst thing about a repair shop or any kind of repair business, in my opinion, is that you bring [the device] there, and it’s doing the exact same thing two days later when it leaves. So attention to detail [is really important]. [We] just make sure [that] we dot our ‘Is and cross our ‘Ts’ on everything we do. Next time the customer comes in, it should be on another issue or another device.”
We also wanted to know what their mission is at Computer Max and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Derrick had to say:
“We’re a mom and pop business, so everything I do revolves around our community. I guess the easiest thing to say it is I want to treat people here with an experience that I would expect if I went into a place… I don’t want it any other way. …To sum it up, nobody is going to be happy when they’re paying money to repair something. No matter what it is. But I want it to be easier for them when they leave…”

When I first started doing this, I wanted customers to come through the door quickly and easily. It doesn’t happen like that. …Keep grinding and marketing, and once you do your initial marketing — online or whatever kind of marketing works in your area — build on that with customer service.”
