Not Your Average Dance School
We were excited to learn all about Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with DeAnne Ridge (Marketing Director, and owner of Snaparazzi, who is responsible for most of the photography for the school) and Elaine Kulick (owner).
Elaine started dancing when she was just three years old. After she graduated, she moved to Ohio and danced with the Cleveland Ballet. After that, she danced in Chicago and New York before moving to Mississippi. She opened Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts about 25 years ago and has spread the joy of dance there ever since.
We wanted to know what it is that makes Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts stand apart from its competitors. We learned that they have experienced and renowned instructors who are dedicated to offering incredible instruction. They offer a one-of-a-kind after school program where they pick the kids up from school, bring them to the studio, and help them with their homework.
Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts offers two dance classes per day, meaning that kids who attend Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts get an average of 40 hours of dance every month, as opposed to the 10 hours a month they would likely get at other studios.
Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts also has a competition team that allows kids to get to travel and compete within the region! They are holding auditions for this year’s Nutcracker on August 10th for dancers ages four and up. This is a very professional production where they bring in some of the finest dancers in the world, so the kids get to learn what it’s like to dance alongside professional dancers!
Building Success With Passion
Gulf Coast School Of Performing Arts has earned a marvelous reputation, so we were excited to hear about some of the ways they have gotten their name out and grown their business. Elaine and DeAnne said that they get a lot of recognition for their annual performance of The Nutcracker at the Beau Ridge Theater. At the end of the school year, Elaine visits schools with some of their dancers and holds an exhibition show for the students.
