The Dancer Project Conservatory has received dozens of reviews on three verified sites with an impeccable average rating of 5.00 stars, earning them an outstanding Rating Score™ of 96.00 and a 2019 Top Rated Local award for ranking among the top five dance schools in all of Tennessee!

Here’s just one of their many five-star reviews:

“First, it’s clear Jen herself is a gifted ballerina, and she is passionate about imparting her love of dance to these young dancers. It’s a gift to have her person and her passion in the neighborhood! Secondly, her heart to bring dance and the arts to those who might not otherwise have access is so beautiful!! We are thrilled to have our daughter spend her days with Jen and The Dancer Project Conservatory, Inc.” – Nicole H.

Not Your Average Dance School

Jennifer Foster-Drake, who co-owns The Dancer Project Conservatory with her wife, Amanda, generously gave us a few minutes of her time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.

The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets The Dancer Project Conservatory apart from the many other dance schools in Tennessee. Jennifer told us that they teach students between the ages of two and 67, and they do all of their own costuming — even with a broken wrist, Jennifer puts together and sews costumes. Jennifer and her team at very hardworking, passionate and dedicated, and she does everything, including choreography.

We also wanted to know why they do what they do at The Dancer Project Conservatory and how they work to make the world a better place. Jennifer shared with us that about their non-profit side — The Dancer Project — puts on free performances in assisted living facilities, homeless shelters and The Boys and Girls Club. They also put on low-cost performances in their studio as well.

Building Success by Asking for Reviews

When we asked Jennifer about The Dancer Project Conservatory’s secret to such a strong online reputation, she attributed it to the fact that they ask for reviews.

Outside of building the kind of online reputation any business owner would envy, The Dancer Project Conservatory has spread the word about who they are and what they do through door-to-door sales pitches, brochures, local advertising, a featured article in National Scene — where they once won Best After School Program — and word of mouth.

Clearly, Jennifer knows a thing or two about growing a business and building an online reputation. Here’s her expert advice for the many other dance schools and studios out there:

“Reach out to people who have done this before or are doing it, and get good advice as to what they have learned and what the best and worst decisions they have made are. It’s good to learn from people who have run their own business, even if it’s not necessarily a dance studio.”

Congratulations to the team at The Dancer Project Conservatory for being a 2019 Top Rated Local award winner, and thank you so much, Jennifer, for taking the time to speak with us!
