We were excited to catch up with NES Electrical Services and hear about how the last year has gone for them, so we sat down with the owner, Jose Nunez.
Jose started off by telling us a bit about their business and their team, as well as what makes them stand out compared to others in the industry.
“Experience helps set us apart. I’ve been an electrician for 20 years, and I have had my own business for four years now. I’m not trying to grow or add employees right now, but rather, I want to just focus on providing great customer service and making sure that each customer gets a very personal, professional experience… I show up on time, do quality work, take my time, and do the work I promised at the price I promised.”
When it comes to their accomplishments over the last year, Jose shared that owning his own business has allowed him to set his own schedule and find a much better work-life balance. He said:
“I’ve only got a few more years with kids in the house, and I’m really enjoying spending time with them.”
Making It As A Small Business
It takes a lot of courage and even more hard work to make it as a small business in today’s world. We asked Jose what has been the most rewarding part of being a small business like NES Electrical Services. He said:
“I really like troubleshooting and problem solving; it’s what makes me tick. Owning my own business allows me to focus on the kind of service work I really enjoy.”
We asked Jose about the biggest lessons they have learned so far as a business. He shared:
“It’s a steep learning curve. I had the technical skills, but not many of the other skills needed to get started. Take your time, go slow, and learn what you need to be successful.”
