Iowa’s Top Rated Local® Fitness Centers Award Winner: Power Life Yoga

Top Rated Local® is pleased to announce that Power Life Yoga is an award winner for fitness centers in 2019.

If you are looking to find a healthy and active community that will help you to achieve your fitness goals, look no further than this award-winning company!

Power Life Yoga has received many overwhelmingly positive reviews across five different verified sites with an average rating of 4.81 stars, earning them an impressive Rating Score™ of 98.06 and a 2019 Top Rated Local award for ranking as one of the top 100 businesses and the number one fitness centers in Iowa!

Here’s just one of their many five-star reviews:

“I love this studio! I always feel welcome by the instructors, and they have great knowledge about anything people ask them. They are willing to give suggestions on modifications. I love the mantras or manifestation practices that most do before or during the yoga classes. I have tried many of the classes, from Restorative to Yoga to Barre, and I have never been disappointed. You can count on a positive, fun, supportive environment and many friendly faces. Be prepared with your own mat, water and towel, but if you forget them, you can always rent/buy them from the front desk, too.” – L.S.

It is because of excellent reviews like this that Power Life Yoga is now able to call themselves a Top Rated Local award winner!

Not Your Average Fitness Center

We were excited to learn all about Power Life Yoga and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with Katie B. and Annika P.

Katie and Annika told us a bit about how Power Life Yoga got its start, saying that the owners, Adam and Steph Geneser, first opened Power Life Yoga in 2012. They now have eight different locations, four in the Des Moines area and four in Kansas City. Katie shared that she has been a part of the Power Life Yoga team since the first studio opened in 2012.

We wanted to know was what it is that makes Power Life Yoga stand apart from its competitors. Katie and Annika told us about the variety of classes they offer and their inclusive environment:

“We offer something for everybody, no matter where you are in your fitness journey. We offer different types of yoga and a wide variety of classes. Our goal is to make everyone’s experience unique and fun.”

Building Success Through Community Involvement

Power Life Yoga has earned a phenomenal reputation over the years, so we were eager to hear about some of the ways they have gotten their name out and grown their business. Katie and Annika told us about some of the cool ways they have reached out to the community:

“We host TONS of free events and classes, both inside and outside our studios, particularly in the summer. Power Life is such a community-based organization, so we encourage existing students to bring friends to these events so they can see what we’re all about. We also truly believe in the power of word-of-mouth marketing. If one person has an amazing experience at our studios, we know they’re more likely to tell their friends and family about it, which in turn, helps grow our student base.”

As a community-minded business, Power Life Yoga has also found ways to give back to those in need. Every year, they host a 20/30 challenge to help raise money for the Hannah Geneser Foundation, a foundation that focuses on organ donation and safety for children. For every class you take during the challenge, Power Life will donate money to the cause on your behalf.

Of course, they have also seen the incredible benefits that can come from having positive online reviews. We asked what their secret behind getting those reviews was. Katie and Annika shared:

“Power Life Yoga is truly a genuine place. We are very focused on community and inspiring each other. The reviews are all organic; people who come here leave feeling good and want to share that with other people.”

There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as impressive a reputation as Power Life Yoga has managed to. We asked if Katie and Annika could share any expert advice with these companies. Here’s what they had to say:

“Create or develop a ‘brand voice’ that is authentic, approachable, and relatable to your business’s mission. For example, one of Power Life’s goals is to be friendly and welcoming to all people, so it’s important that our online presence reflects that so people feel like they have a sense of who we are before they even step foot in our studio doors. In today’s day and age, it’s common for people to look you up online before they actually visit your business. If people feel like they can get a true, authentic read on your business online, I think they’re much more likely to give you a try and to tell their friends about it, too!”

Congratulations to Power Life Yoga for being a 2019 Top Rated Local award winner, and special thanks to Katie and Annika for taking the time to speak with us!
