“I had a lot of curiosity at a young age about what went on in a funeral home. I had a good friend who was tragically killed when we were in high school. I saw how attentive the funeral director was, and it made me think that it would be wonderful to be able to help people during the hardest time in their life. I enjoy being able to do things for families and their loved ones that they aren’t able to do themselves…When I was in mortuary school, I went to a huge LA mortuary, where all the bodies had numbered tags on their toes, and it really depressed me. I decided that I needed to go to a rural community where I could connect with everyone in the community and take care of all of the aspects of running the business myself.”
Building Success Through Personable Service
In the past, Wiscombe Memorial did a campaign to encourage people to leave reviews, but after not seeing many results, they stopped. Today, all of their reviews are organic, and they are the result of the team’s efforts to serve every family as personably as possible.

He says, ‘Success is waking up in the morning and bounding out of bed because there’s something out there that you love to do, that you believe in, that you’re good at — something that’s bigger than you are, and you can hardly wait to get at it again.’”
