Not Your Average Photographer and Art Gallery
Bruce Omori, the owner of Extreme Exposure, generously gave us a few minutes of his time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Extreme Exposure apart from the many other art galleries in Hawaii. Here’s Bruce’s response:
“I sell prints of my work at Extreme Exposure. The service part isn’t a huge component. I also do photography workshops. I am local, born and raised. I know the island like the back of my hand, and I pride myself on having a high level of integrity, personally and in my work. It is hard to believe everything you see in photos these days, so because of my background, that is how I present my work. I maintain a high level of photographic integrity in my shots. I don’t edit my photos to where everything was in the picture in that photo. I am committed to authenticity and integrity. I am also easy-going, so I don’t use high-pressure sales to sell my work or put pressure on my clients to sign up for future workshops. I am also an award-winning photographer.”
We also wanted to know why Bruce does what he does at Extreme Exposure and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Bruce had to say:
“There are a couple of reasons why I do what I do. I love being able to expose the qualities and beauty of our island. The big island is very unique, and the wildlife and birdlife here are so diverse. Not many people know about the aspects of life here on the island, so I like bringing attention to that. These plants and birds have been here for thousands of years, and now, within the past 200 to 300 years, we have seen an influx of other species. My mission is to help educate the public about how special our islands are. Everyone likes to see beautiful scenery, and I love shooting things that are beautiful. I love sharing that with the world as well.”

When we asked Bruce about Extreme Exposure’s secret to such a strong online reputation, he said:
“I don’t solicit reviews but we do pride ourselves on giving quality products and quality service.”

I feel that, as a business person, it’s important to be consistently in front of potential clients and maintain a relationship with them.
