Not Your Average Interior Design Company
We were excited to learn all about Interiors by Diane DeCero and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Diane DeCero.
Diane got her start as a seamstress, using the valuable skills her mother taught her when she was young. She specializes in creating unique window treatments, mixing textures and designs with all the bells and whistles, and creating original final projects so each client receives a truly custom look. In addition to specializing in “soft window treatments”, Diane has been certified by Hunter Douglas Blinds, Shades and Shutters for over 20 years, and is currently a priority dealer.
We wanted to know was what it is that makes Interiors by Diane DeCero stand apart from its competitors. Diane told us about her personal connection with her clients and her commitment to providing outstanding customer service:
“I go out on all of my installations. I just want to make sure I’m providing great customer service. If there is a problem, I want to be there so we can get it resolved as quickly as possible… I’m very personable and outgoing. I make my clients feel very comfortable. I never presume that somebody is going to spend money with me or how much they are going to spend. I’m very cognizant of my client’s budget.”
She went on to tell us about how getting her start as a seamstress has allowed her to have a unique mindset when she’s working on projects:
“Starting out as a seamstress allows me to deconstruct window treatments before I design them. When I’m putting a window treatment together, in my brain, I’m sewing it, which allows me to make far fewer mistakes. I’m very timely with my appointments, and I do what I say I’m going to do.”
Building Success And Giving Back
Interiors by Diane DeCero has earned a fantastic reputation, and Diane said it’s mostly thanks to word of mouth and referrals. She has had loyal customers for the entire time she has been in the industry. She also works on networking with Realtors®, who will tell new home buyers about her services. In turn, she gives great discounts to new home buyers!
Throughout her career, Diane has remained committed to community values by donating her time and talent to various organizations. As a Lemont resident, Diane dedicated 11 years to work with the Lemont Juniors Woman’s Club on their Annual Housewalk. Diane was instrumental in developing the Walk into a very successful Christmas Housewalk, which features her professional decorating abilities. As a result, the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club had nine more years of successful Housewalks. Additionally, Diane was chairperson for the Crisis Center of South Suburbia’s (CCSS) Annual Holiday Housewalk for five years. Diane also served on the Executive Board for CCSS, sitting on many fundraising committees. She was responsible for raising thousands of dollars for this worthwhile cause. Currently, Diane serves on the Executive Board for Lockport Mainstreet and is very involved with the Lockport Chamber of Commerce.

“Provide great customer service. You need to go that extra mile and be present for your customer. Make phone calls, and send thank you notes or texts. Just stay in front of your customers at all times!”
