We wanted to learn a little more about this award-winning business and its impressive online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with Rachel and Lauren, owners of RL Concetti.
The first question we had for Rachel and Lauren was what sets RL Concetti apart from their competition in Michigan. Here’s their response:
“Design is viewed as a luxury, when, in reality, it’s a way to solve problems. We want to create environments that affect people in a healthy way. If they need to reuse things, we’ll reuse things. If they need a spot for the dog, we’ll make one. We facilitate the entire process. We’re all about making sure our clients are successful in their spaces. We focus on design strategy, as in the actual building of the space. We’re involved since day one. We actually coordinate with the builders to make sure the space is as effective as it can be.”
We also wanted to know what their mission is at RL Concetti and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Rachel and Lauren had to say:
“We use design strategy to positively impact the spaces that we visit. We also want to make design accessible to people, not just the rich. Our mission is to educate small businesses in the city on design to help them reach their goals.”

“Be genuine. When we first started, we wanted to be more corporate and serious. It came off as almost pretentious, and we had to switch [it] up and be ourselves. You have to know who you are and embrace it instead of fitting into a mold that’s not you.”

“We love Detroit! It’s home! We’re a woman-owned business. We run a benefit every year, called Gratitude Attitude, where we raise funds to show the importance of environment. We worked on the Sanctum house to help victims of human trafficking to build a better environment. We also worked with a local animal shelter to fix the acoustics and make the animals more comfortable.”
