Matthew Villiatora, the owner of Vills Bros Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, generously gave us a few minutes of his time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Vills Bros Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu apart from the many other martial arts centers in Nevada. Here’s Matthew’s response:
“We are an actual family-oriented academy, plain and simple.”
We also wanted to know why they do what they do at Vills Bros Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Matthew had to say:
“I come from nothing, so we are very grateful for our little community academy. We try to train kids real hard, push them to the limits and make sure to let them know that they’re going to want to quit. We’re only human; we’re all going to want to quit. But at the end of the day, we can’t quit no matter how hard it gets. We try to get these kids up and going, off the video games and off the phone, and encourage them to put in the hard work.”
Matthew went on to add:
“[We’re] super grateful because we’re a family-oriented gym, and we’re not a corporate gym. There are tons of corporate gyms with big names out there, and I decided to open up my family-owned gym. I taught at a corporate gym. I don’t like what they’re about and why they do what they do. We do what we have to do for our little community.”
