We wanted to learn all about ABC Termite & Pest Control and its impressive online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with the owner of the Omaha location, Ryan Ross.
The first question we had for Ryan was what is it that sets ABC Termite & Pest Control apart from their competition in Nebraska. Here’s Ryan’s response:
“We’re problem solvers! We’re not trying to sell you a one-size-fits-all program. We’re going to tailor your program to your needs. If clients don’t need or want a service, we don’t include it. We also run off of a pretty strict appointment schedule, not a window of time. We give long-range scheduling, too. Our recurring customers will know a year in advance when their appointment is. We want the homeowner to be there to interact with the technicians, so that they and we have the full picture of the pest problems. We’re local, too. We only have two offices, one in Lincoln and one in Omaha. We have 12-13 customer service representatives, and you’ll always talk to someone local!”
Ryan went on to add:
“We are a full-service pest control company. We do all the creepy-crawlies that you’ll find out here. We also do quite a bit of termite abatement, treatment and inspections. We’ll do rodent control, mosquito control and have quality companies that we’ll recommend for larger pest control (like squirrels, owls and the like).”
Ryan also told us about how ABC Termite & Pest Control was founded and how get got started in the company:
“Both Nick (Nick Helzer owns the Lincoln location) and I have a long-standing pest control background. Nick’s family owned a pest control business in Missouri, and he built ABC from the ground up when he moved up here. He had an unfortunate accident about 10 years into the company and was fortunate to have friends that helped him run the business while he recovered. That’s a big motivation for him. It gave him a second wind and really drove him to make sure that we were the best! I came on in 2006. Our sons were friends, which is how we met each other. I was a science teacher, and there’s a lot of science in this business. I taught school for 15 years and have been here for 13 since then.”

When we asked Ryan about their secret to such a strong online reputation at ABC Termite & Pest Control, he said:
“A lot of times, if we hear that customers have had a good experience, we ask them to share it. We want other people to hear about it! Our customer service speaks for itself, and we get a lot of reviews because we’re out there doing a good job day in and day out.”
Outside of building a powerful online reputation, ABC Termite & Pest Control has gotten their name out there through Google and television ads, and they plan to get into radio advertising soon. Ryan added:
“We’re trying to do some branding and keep our marketing model simple. We want our customer service to be what we’re known for. In fact, we’ve won the Best of Omaha for the past three years!”
