Laura McMullen, the owner of Canine Design, generously gave us a few minutes of her time to tell us about her award-winning pet grooming business and its stellar online reputation.
The first question we had for Laura was what sets Canine Design apart from her competition in Kansas. Here’s what she had to say:
“I’m very experienced. I’m a one-woman shop, so everyone knows what they’re getting with me. It’s a very personal experience! I’ve built up a great following in the area, too. I listen to what my customers want and keep up with the newest trends. I make sure that I’ve got a space that the dogs and their owners can both feel comfortable in.”
We also asked Laura what her mission is at Canine Design and how she works to make the world a better place. Here’s her response:
“I want to provide a place where people feel safe leaving their animals. Pets are like children to a lot of people, and I want them to feel comfortable. I also try to bring out the best in each individual pet while listening to the customer to understand what they want.”

“Some leave reviews without me doing anything. I casually mention to people that if they’re happy, I’d appreciate the review. I make sure to let them know that it’s very helpful to me if they leave one.”

“I don’t advertise, and I don’t really want to. I live off of referral and repeat business! People will see someone at the park with a dog I’ve recently groomed, and will ask where that person got their dog groomed.”
