More Than Your Average Pet Groomers
We were excited to catch up with Idlewire Pet Care and hear about how the last year has gone for them, so we sat down with the owner, Derek Johnson.
Derek started off by telling us a bit about their business and their team, as well as what makes them stand out compared to others in the industry. He said that they have been in business for 50 years, and are always looking for ways to grow and improve the customer’s experience, whether that customer is the pet or the owner.
When it comes to their accomplishments over the last year, Derek told us that they have expanded their services to seven days a week, which was a step towards their goal of always pushing their limits and boundaries to help the customers as best as they can.
Making It As A Small Business
It takes a lot of courage, and even more hard work to make it as a small business in today’s world. We asked Derek what has been the most rewarding part of being a small business like Idlewire Pet Care. He said that he loves being able to find different ways to help people and pets and becoming someone his customers can trust.
Derek also told us about the biggest lessons they have learned so far as a business, which he said was learning that there is always a better way to do things and never getting stuck in the mindset that there is just one right way to groom animals.

“Care about what you do, and don’t take shortcuts. There is a reason it’s a short cut, and oftentimes it comes back to bite you.”
