Not Your Average Pet Groomer
We were excited to learn all about Pooch Palace Resort and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Paul Whitehurst. Paul worked in graphic design for over 20 years, but after the passing of his German Shepherd, Zoey, he put together a plan to start his own business as a tribute to her. He saw Zoey as his kid and had never been satisfied with the boarding options that were available for her.
At Pooch Palace Resort, your four-legged friend will be staying in a private bedroom with their own toddler bed and TV, turned to the “Dog TV” station to help ease anxiety. They have two-way talk webcams so that owners are able to check-in and say “hi” to their pup at any time. One of the other ways they keep owners connected to their dogs is by keeping webcams in every single area of their facility. The staff at Pooch Palace Resort is available from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm, and give dogs five potty breaks instead of three, as well as playtime! In all they do, they want their facility to feel like your dog’s home away from home.
In addition to the care, comfort, and amenities they offer to dogs, Paul said that one of the things that truly helps to set them apart is their staff. He said that they are very lucky that they have such a great group of people working at Pooch Palace, and that many of their employees are vet students or animal science majors at Purdue.

Pooch Palace Resort opened on June 20, 2017, marking the one-year anniversary of Zoey’s passing. In that time, they have earned a fantastic reputation, so we were excited to hear about some of the ways they have gotten their name out and grown their company. Paul said that he does a lot of work on Facebook, where he can keep in touch with the community as well as boost posts. Pooch Palace Resort is also committed to being an active member of their community, where they have made donations to local charities and animal rescues, host fundraisers, sponsor rescues, and are involved with little leagues.
