We wanted to learn more about this two-time award winner and how they managed to build such an impressive online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with Steve Noto, the owner of 1910 Grille’.

The first thing we wanted to know was what makes 1910 Grille’ a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Iowa. Here’s what Steve had to say:

“We are the local favorite for celebrations. We find that people will book us for anniversaries, birthdays and other special events. We have an extensive wine and beverage list. We also try to change the menu up three times a year. We strive to make everything from scratch daily. We use fresh ingredients that we buy locally as often as we can from mainly southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. We have what we call a chef’s table. We have an open kitchen concept, with six seats right in front of the cooking line. You can request to sit there, and the chef will show you how he’s putting everything together and will help you pair beverages. It is a really interactive experience, and our guests really love that.”

Steve went on to say:

“When we started, we were doing wine dinners, where we invited six people and did the food/wine pairing at the chef’s table. The chef and I would entertain people for the evening. That continued to grow in the number of guests as we continued to train the staff to handle more people. We then opened the full restaurant.”

Building Success Through Five-Star Service

Steve attributes 1910 Grille’s strong online reputation to their commitment to providing five-star service to their guests:

“Our motto is five-star service all the time for everyone. Both my hotel and restaurant staff are very knowledgeable about the property and the history here. We want people to come here, have a nice meal, relax and enjoy themselves and the property.”

“We have quite a few six-course wine dinners, where we pick a night to close the restaurant, sell 54 seats and make it exclusive. We have one of the wine representatives contribute by coming in and talking about the different wines we’ve selected to pair with each course.”
