Mike Byrnes, the general manager of Sassafras Southern Bistro, took some time to speak with us about the business’ outstanding online reputation.
If you’re wondering what it is that really sets Sassafras Southern Bistro apart from other restaurants in the area. Mike credits it to their incredible service and mouthwatering food. “[It’s our] unique southern dishes that are not skimped on quality or quantity! You will never leave feeling hungry! We really have great quality dishes with some original recipes on our menu. Our chef also does specials for the day in addition to our fantastic, traditional menu. Our hospitality is always on point and brings people back time and time again,” he said. “We provide a great place to have a meal with friends or family — we hope to make it feel like home. Our general area is exploding, and we’re getting tons and tons of visitors from everywhere. If you’re coming here you’re most likely going to want to try true southern food! Bring your friends, family, associates — everyone will get a great southern experience and hospitality. You’ll always have a wonderful experience with us.”
Building Success By Going Back To Basics
We couldn’t let Mike go without finding out the Sassafras Southern Bistro secret to success. After all, it takes something special to become a Top Rated Local award winner. “I would say we’re taking it back to basics for restaurant mentality,” Mike said. “We’re focused on great service, great food, getting back to the core of it and wowing people to give them a reason to come back. We took over in December 2016, but it’s been around since May 1999 — so we will be celebrating 20 years this May. The menu is consistent over time with great favorites. We make sure each guest that comes in gets a great, consistent experience every time.”
Here’s Mike’s advice to other businesses:
“Be yourself and try to be different. People like things that are different and stand out. The farm to table movement is big, but people are looking for something outside of a chain. So again, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Don’t have an overwhelming menu. Have a consistent execution of the dishes you excel at, and stick to what you know. Just do you!”
