We were excited to learn all about how The Depot has been able to build such an impressive reputation, so we sat down with the owner, Mike Nachbar.

The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes The Depot stand apart from their local competitors. Mike says:

“Because ‘no’ is not an answer. ‘Yes’ is always the answer. If we don’t have it, we’ll go get it if someone wants it.”

This dedication to their customers is what makes The Depot one of the best restaurants in Leavenworth, Kansas!

Building Success Through Guest Service

The Depot has marketed their business via social media, like Facebook, in the local newspaper, and though being active in the community by attending events at local schools and festivals.

There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as impressive a reputation as The Depot has managed to. We asked if Mike could share any expert advice to these companies. Here’s what they had to say:

“The first thing that comes to my mind is ‘every guest, every time,’ and that’s whether it is on social media or anywhere else… Wherever you’re at, you represent who you are. So, in every facet, I think that it’s really important that you treat every guest special every single time. If I’m wearing a Depot shirt at Wal-Mart [I keep in mind to do] something kind for someone, which to me, is just good manners. Holding a door open for a lady or gentleman, those are things that were just instilled [in me].”

Mike ended our interview with this sentiment:

“It’s about the people It’s about the people all the way. It’s how we treat our employees, so they can treat the guests well. If you don’t like people, get out of the business.”
