Kate Taylor, the owner of Polar Square Designs, generously gave us a few minutes of her time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Polar Square Designs apart from the many other pet groomers in Rhode Island. Here’s Kate’s response:
“I’m looking to provide amazing customer service. I usually bring chocolate and wine to talk about my clients’ weddings. I like to go above and beyond and will really follow up on the prints to make sure my clients have something amazing on their wall. For my wedding clients, I always go way above and beyond. For example, the bride for an event had a problem with a hotel and wasn’t able to get into the room for makeup and getting dressed. She called me in tears, and I called the hotel and rented a conference room to fix her day and have a space to get ready in. I’m always looking for a way to solve problems. I carry a sewing kit in my camera bag, just in case someone has a wardrobe malfunction.”
We also wanted to know why they do what they do at Polar Square Designs and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Kate had to say:
“I participate in a public safety event, called Free Photos for Public Safety. I had twelve photographers to take pictures of all public safety professionals, such as Police, Fire, EMS, Military Police, Coast Guard, etc… I volunteer at Rhode Island SPCA — it’s a state animal shelter, and I create a logo for them every year. The logos go on shirts, and people buy them to contribute to the shelter. They sell out every year.”

When we asked Kate about Polar Square Designs’ secret to such a strong online reputation, she said:
“The personality that comes out over Facebook and online is the same one my clients will meet in person. My customers feel like they already know me because I am so honest. I just really try to connect and use my personality.”

I always look for a way to serve my clients and whatever is best for them. If they need something I can’t offer, I will recommend them to another photographer friend of mine.”
