Maintaining a Strong Online Reputation by Taking Care of Clients and Doing the Right Thing
We wanted to learn all about Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors and what they’ve been up to since they won two Top Rated Local awards in 2018, so we took a few minutes to talk with the General Manager and part-owner, Tika Stoddard.
It was clear from Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors’ 2018 Top Rated Local awards that they know a thing or two about building a strong online reputation, and their 2019 Top Rated Local awards are evidence that they also know how to maintain their reputation. When we asked Tika what they’ve done to continue to get such great feedback, she said:
“We always make sure that we take care of our clients and our homeowners, and that we do the right thing, every time with every job. Things can go afoul, especially with roofing or with construction. I truly believe that the outcome depends on how you handle what went wrong and whether or not you make sure that the homeowner is completely satisfied in the end. We ask for feedback from homeowners. After every job, we ask, ‘How did we do? Is there anything we can do to improve on that?’ If they say, ‘No, you guys did great,’ we say, ‘Can you give us a review?’”
We also asked Tika what it is that makes Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors stand out, and she told us that, as a part-owner, she’s been in Colorado for 26 years and is a graduate from Colorado State University, and that, David Prestwich, the majority owner was born and raised in Sterling.

Small businesses go through many ups and downs over the years, and we wanted to know what lessons Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors has learned over the last year, as well as what their biggest achievements are.
Tika shared with us that one of the biggest lessons they’ve learned is that it can be difficult to find good people, and when you do, you have to treat them right. They recognize that it’s more than just about money, and they show their appreciation for their team by doing quarterly events, like TopGolf.
Tika considers one of Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors’ biggest achievements to be building roofs for two veterans and giving back to their community, which includes partnering with Jefferson High School and sitting on a panel at Ames Community College for girls interested in construction.

Small businesses can be a lot of work, and we wanted to know what motivates Tika and her team at Stone Creek Roofing & Exteriors to serve their clients day in and day out. When we asked Tika what’s most rewarding about what they do, she said:
“I think the most rewarding part is seeing the reputation that we have for giving excellent customer service and being able to help people. We do a lot in the community. We are huge supporters of Habitat for Humanity, and we do Roofs for Vets.”
We were excited to learn about what comes next for this award-winning roofing company, so we asked Tika what their goals are for the next year. She told that they are currently looking to expand further into Northern Colorado and to buy or build a new building.
As a part-owner of a second-time award-winning business, Tika has a lot of knowledge to share. When we asked what advice she has for the many new business owners out there who are just starting out, she said:
“Always be true to yourself, and always do the right thing. Hard work and determination pay off. There are days when I was at the office before the sun came up, and I was leaving the office when the sun went down — you’re going to have those days.”
Tika ended our conversation with this very important shout-out:
