Not Your Average Self Storage Center
We were excited to learn all about how Security Public Storage has been able to build such an astounding reputation, so we sat down with the Resident Manager, Art Sparks.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Security Public Storage stand apart from their competitors. In Art’s words, “We’re not trying to oversell them and only get you what you need. When people come and talk to us about what they want to storage and say they need a big one, well, we have units as big as 10’ by 25’, but some people don’t need that. So we get to know them, ask them questions, and figure out how to help them from there based on the answers they give us. So we’re not overrenting them, essentially.
When asked about the Security Public Storage mission, Art said, “A lot of people go back to talking about our fees because we don’t have any. There’s no hidden fees; it’s just the rent. We literally only charge rent. Nancy and myself, between the both of us, we take care of everybody. We treat everyone like family.”
Building Success Through Clarity
According to Art, the secret to his business’ success is not having hidden fees and providing quality management on-site. As for marketing, Security Public Storage focuses on flyers and word of mouth.
There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as fabulous a reputation as Security Public Storage has managed to. We asked if Art could share any expert advice with these companies. Here’s what he had to say:
“Be honest. Staying honest is one of the key things for everything. We’re upfront with everyone on everything. We tell everybody how it actually is. When people are late, we actually call people two days before a late fee, specifically so they don’t get a late fee. Ours is pretty straightforward, and we go everything during sign up and give people a 10-day grace period. That’s pretty cool, and a lot of people like that. But the being honest part is the best.”
