New Mexico’s Top Rated Local® Veterinarians Award Winner: Santa Fe Animal Shelter

Top Rated Local® is pleased to announce that Santa Fe Animal Shelter is a 2019 award winner for veterinarians in New Mexico!

Santa Fe Animal Shelter has received dozens of reviews with an average rating of 4.70 stars, earning them a stellar Rating Score™ of 89.00 and a 2019 Top Rated Local award for ranking among the top 10 veterinarians in New Mexico!

Not Your Average Animal Shelter

At Santa Fe Animal Shelter, they focus on providing accessible spay and neuter programs in an effort to beat animal overpopulation at its core. They also offer creative adoption efforts and dozens of programs to help homeless animals find loving families.

Santa Fe Animal Shelter is an open-admission, no-kill shelter, making them unique in New Mexico, where there aren’t a lot of no-kill shelters. Sante Fe Animal Shelter is also privately owned and operated, so they don’t get any government assistance, but with the help from donors and the community, they do their part to save as many animals as they can.

This year, Santa Fe Animal Shelter is celebrating its 80th year of helping support animal welfare in their community!

We sat down with Murad Kirdar, the public relations officer at Santa Fe Animal Shelter, to find out why they do what they do and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what he had to say:

“Our mission is simple -— support animals, save lives, spread compassion. Every animal deserves a shot at a good life. We save more than 5,000 animals a year. Our Public Hospital and South Side Clinic lets us provide medical care to animals in our community.”

Building Success Through Brand Awareness

Murad credits Santa Fe Animal Shelter’s strong online reputation to the brand awareness they’ve created by doing engagements with the public and on social media, and linking everything back to the main website.

We also wanted to know what Santa Fe Animal Shelter has done to grow their business outside of building a powerful online reputation. Here is Murad’s response:

“We are constantly in the public eye. We do speaking engagements with children in schools, public service events, field treatments to help families keep animals in their homes and educational meetings on Native American reservations. We also have a sliding scale for finances for animal parents in all economic situations for our Hospital. We’re actually really excited because February is spay/neuter awareness month, and we’re giving away free spay/neuter surgeries to the first 100 patients starting February 1st. We really need to control the pet population.”

There are many business owners out there looking to grow their business and build their online reputation. Here’s Murad’s expert advice for those business owners:

“I do all the social media for us, and for me, it’s listening to every single comment you get. People will always say negative things, but every negative is a chance to educate yourself and hopefully turn it into a positive.”

Congratulations to the team at Santa Fe Animal Shelter for being a 2019 Top Rated Local award winner, and thank you so much, Murad, for taking the time to speak with us!
