“This store began as a goldsmith and a silversmith store, where we made all of our own jewelry. We’ve now been in business for more than 40 years, and we have evolved to carry jewelry from many designers, as well as jewelry we make here. We do a great amount of custom work and repairs, and that’s all done on the premises. So, we’re not just knowledgeable about fashion and jewelry trends and designs, we really know jewelry from the ground up. We know how it’s made; we know what a good quality product is; we know how to repair things for people. A lot of heirlooms that people own are very important to them, and we advise them on how to maintain these emotionally important jewels. We make sure that the prongs are all tight, and if need be, we fix the back of the ring if it’s worn thin and all of the other details.”

He went on to tell us about the way they operate on a personable level, forging relationships with their clients and being there for them during the milestone moments in life. Melvin said:

“We operate in a different way than a lot of modern stores operate. We’re very personable and very knowledgeable. We try to take care of all of our clients’ needs. We’re not just here to make one sale to somebody. We’re here to have a relationship with them for a really long time. We make and sell beautiful things to people that enrich people’s lives. Many of those times are very strong emotional times, like birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings, among others.”

We were excited to learn all about Lewis Jewelers and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with Tim Lewis, who co-owns the company with his brother.

Tim and his brother started the business as a way to pay their way through college. They had been cutting and polishing gemstones since they were kids, and have been in business together for 44 years. Tim is an elder at the local church, and his brother has been the local mayor for 25 years. Tim told us:

We were excited to learn all about Brooks Diamonds and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Stacey Brooks.

The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Brooks Diamonds stand apart from its competitors. Stacey told us that they try to meet their customers’ specific needs. She said:

“We try to make our customers very comfortable with their purchase. We don’t push too hard; we make sure we figure out what they need, and we find something for them that is in their budget. We also do free cleanings, and we make sure everyone is getting awesome customer service.”

She told us a bit more about their excellent customer service:

“Customer service is one of the biggest things we strive for. We treat people the way we would like to be treated.”

She told us that they use a third-party company that helps them with their SEO (search engine optimization) and that they have a great social media presence on sites, like Facebook and Instagram. They also make sure to ask their customers for feedback via reviews!

In addition to building the kind of online reputation that any small business would envy, Brooks Diamonds has spread the word about who they are and what they do by giving back to their community. Stacey told us:

“We do a lot of charity events. We donate pieces for silent auctions to help support the local community. We always want to participate when someone asks for help.”

We were excited to learn all about JewelSmiths and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Arthur Gordon.

“Our roots are in the jewelry industry, as it has been a family tradition since 1904. I share the same passion for jewelry as my late grandfather, Samuel Gordon. We treat every customer with respect.
