We spoke with John Howard himself about his business’ overwhelmingly positive reputation.
“There’s no real secret about it,” he said, when our team asked about his secret to success. “When I first started out, I used to listen to a man called Earl Nightingale. Nightingale says your rewards in life are always in direct correlation to your services and contributions to others. I have made that my life’s goal and focus, and this focus has led to my rewards, which are not necessarily money. The biggest reward, and the one I am far more proud of than money, is my reputation and how I am thought of in my community.”
Making the World a Better Place By Putting People First
We wanted to know how John makes the world a better place, and it sounds like he does so by simply treating people right. “I believe in taking care of my customers, employees, and subcontractors. People look over the subcontractors, but occasionally you will get a tough customer and you will need to lean on your subcontractors to get the job done up to their standards. That way, they will uphold our own standards.” he said. “You have to do everything in your power to make sure the customer feels like you are doing everything you can for them and that you care. We build the best houses in town.”
Here’s his advice to other businesses:
“You need to build your business by giving the most you possibly can, while treating yourself properly, to your customers. You have to build your business on customer service, honesty and care. And don’t forget ole determination. Because you are going to get hit in the face, there are just going to be tough times, and you have to remember your goal and vision and keep moving forward to the prosperous endings.”
