We wanted to know more about the compassionate Shook Funeral Home, so we sat down with Funeral Director, Tom Garretson, to ask him some questions.
First things first, we wanted to know what sets Shook Funeral Home apart from other funeral homes in New Jersey. Tom shared that their facilities are top-notch. He went on to add that the majority of their family works there, each of them striving to go above and beyond to make a difficult time a little less difficult. He adds:
“There’s a lot that happens when someone passes, and most people don’t know what to do. The majority of our families are doing this for the first time, and having years of experience and knowledge in the industry makes it possible for folks to trust us in their time of need.”
We also asked Tom what their mission is at Shook Funeral Home and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what he had to say:
“My Grandfather started the business. He served in the Pacific Theater in WW2. He helped with fallen soldiers’ funerals and transitioned into doing this full-time when he got out of the military. He opened our facility in 1955, and we’re still in the same building! We’re very community-focused, and we try to provide a service that makes life easier in a difficult time. This is a very personal business. We’ve known the people in this area for a very long time, and we’ve got a great relationship with the community.”
Building Success Through The Community
Tom credits Shook Funeral Home’s strong online reputation to the fact that the families they work with really drive their successful reputation. Tom says:
“When asked how clients can thank us, we tell them that personal recommendations are very valuable and that spreading the word is the best way to thank us.”
