I made an appointment today as this location was nearest to us. We recently moved to the area and my daughter needed to be seen. Having used various Urgent Cares all over the country, and being self pay, I am very familiar with pricing/ billing. That said, upon arrival the receptionist asked for my insurance and ID and I informed her that I would be self pay and handed her my ID. She said there would be a $150 charge today, and that I would be receiving another bill in the mail after the visit. I asked her what the other bill would include and she kind of just said “whatever they do during the visit”. Now, I fully understand that testing/procedures/lab work costs extra and is billed externally. I tried to clarify this with her, and she said No, that they would be billing me directly again for being seen, that the $150 was just an initial payment. I have never heard of this. I asked her if it was similar to an ER visit, where you pay the hospital to be seen, and then the physicians bill that comes after. She said no. I asked her if this was something that could turn into a several thousand dollar bill just for being seen (like an ER situation)( side note the reason we were being seen was not an emergency and very benign). She responded with “I can’t say but it will probably be less than a thousand dollars”. I asked her what the basic visit cost to be seen was, if that was the $150 and she still said no. Because there was no clarity on pricing/billing just for the initial visit, I politely asked for my card back and drove down the road to another facility, walked right in paid one amount and was done. Because of the lack of clarity regarding prices, I had to walk away. This seemed very much like a place that would send bill upon bill and nickel and dime. I felt like there was a very obvious lack of transparency. I did not check reviews before I went to be honest, but now in hindsight, it all makes sense the way I felt being there.
