GC provided me a quote to transport a vehicle from NM to CA for $1030. I signed a contract and then heard virtually nothing for 4 days. Eventually, after attempting to contact them 5 different ways, I got a single line email saying they were still looking for a carrier. When I finally got in touch with a human they said they'd been trying to get in touch with me and left a VM, which was a complete lie. Finally today I got a text telling me they found a driver and the price would be $1580. When I told him no way he got increasingly aggressive and nasty. Here are a few excerpts from our text exchange: Him: The FINAL TOTAL and GUARANTEED rate for the move, with winch operation, insurance and add.man hours is $1580. The price is firm and won't change any more. Can we proceed? Me: No - that's $500+ more than what was quoted. It's been abundantly clear from the get go that the van is not running. I have an email from your company specifically stating that the quoted price was for a non-running van. Nothing has changed, so there should be no "additional" man hours Him: Provided the quote was ESTIMATED and CALCULATED, it's senseless to compare the estimated and the final price. Me: Price was estimated, but the fact that you were off by more than 50% tells me that either GetCarrier is terrible at estimating or it was a deceptively low quote to pull me in. I'm not doing it Him: Estimate is an estimate in its terms. The definition is same as well. Whatever the estimate was, the final price now is as it is. You won't persuade me that I'm wrong, as I do my job right and fair all the time. If $1580 is a problem, okay Me: Ya, no way. Very dishonest. I provide estimates in my own job all the time. If I was off by 53% I'd be fired Him: You think you're brave enough to be saying all this BS, good for you. Thinking I'm a buddy next door. You're wrong. You're loosing only your time and money. It continued to devolve from there. Total scumbags from start to finish
