I highly recommend you use Ken and Roof.net for any roof replacement needs. You’ll be making a mistake by at least getting an estimate from Ken before making a final selection of roofing contractors. I’ve been dealing with Ken for almost 7 years starting when our old roof, installed by a sub-contractor who did a very poor job in 2004, developed multiple leaks around our dormers. Ken fixed those quickly with no further issues. (He is so busy with work now, Ken no longer does repair work, only new roofs). Finally, two weeks ago, I noticed the flashing along the rear of the house at the bottom shingle line starting to be exposed due to warping of the plywood base underneath. While I did my due diligence and obtained two other estimates, I knew Ken would be my final choice. One of the other estimates was from a “big name” company and was ridiculously high. The other was competitive with the estimate Ken gave me and we went with Roof.net. Ken is a joy to work with; no salesman involved as he is the owner and gives you his personal attention. He is very responsive to both email and text messages; normally within an hour or two at the most. Ken was able to give me an estimate for the job using a company that uses satellite technology to measure roof and see the various surfaces. He adds a per board charge for any plywood underlayment that needs to be replaced; in my case due to the poor job in 2004, we need to replace 8 sheets several of which where so rotted you could easily put your foot through them if you stepped on them. Ken dropped off actual shingles with color choices to our home the next day and sent us a list of homes/townhouses in our area where the various colors we had chosen could be viewed in real life. After we selected a color, he scheduled us within several days for the work with NO MONEY up front required. The day of the work Ken showed up with his crew led by Miguel and 11 other roofers. These guys started at 7:30 and were wrapped up and gone by 6pm – we have a two story, 4-bedroom colonial so I’d say an average sized suburban DC Colonial. Miguel and his crew were phenomenal; professional and courteous to both my wife and I. Ken came and went throughout the day to check on progress. We had been especially concerned with a Japanese Maple tree in the back of the house and Ken assured his crew not to throw and old shingles in that direction during the job. Cleanup was not an after thought for Miguel and his crew. While no roof contractor will get every nail of small piece of shingle off your lawn or out of your shrubbery, we are very pleased with the condition of our property after their cleanup. One minor issue occurred with cladding damage around one of our windows, but Ken was out first thing this morning to look at it and has a repair scheduled. The roof looks fantastic, and we could not be happier with Ken and Roof.net!
