We worked with Susan and Northwest K9 to heat treat a unit we are renting in a condo building. A very sticky and agonizing situation because since each unit has a separate owner, there is no way to "give notice" and check all units for bed bug presence. We don't know where the bugs came from (people rarely do) or if they are in other units in the building, but Susan and her team were incredibly knowledgeable, trustworthy, and supportive throughout the process. Yes, supportive. If you discover bed bugs in your home, believe me, you will appreciate the kindness and reassurance Northwest K9 staff provide when they discuss the problem with you, perform an inspection, offer sound, unbiased advice, and proceed with whatever treatment - spray or heat - you choose. Our unit's heat treatment took around 7 hours. Darcy and - I really wish I could remember his coworker's name too, because they were both fantastic - were flawless in their professionalism and explanation of what would happen that day. I was really worried one of the FIFTEEN fire sprinkler heads in my units would go off in the heat and sound a building alarm, but they covered all of them, and I doubt anyone else in the building even knew they were here. When we came back to the unit afterwards it was warm, sure, but the weather was cool and the guys left all of our windows open when they left, so we were able to sleep comfortably in our bed that night. Soundly too, knowing all those little bloodbags were dead. I highly recommend reading, following, and BELIEVING the information and preparation sheets Susan sends prior to a treatment. Your entire home might look like a teenager's bedroom when you return. Just suck it up and be prepared to refold all of your clothes, put your lamps and knick-knacks back where they belong, and clean up every speck of dust previously hiding in the crevices and catacombs of your decor and appliances. Susan did a follow-up inspection with her dog, Magic, about 3 weeks after our treatment. The heat treatment was, and still is, a success. We plan to have the two of them come back quarterly on account of our rental condo situation. Even once we move out of this building, I would consider having bi-annual dog inspections since bed bugs are back with a vengeance now that using the chemicals that pretty much eradicated them for 40 years is prohibited. I am so grateful to have found Northwest K9, and while I hope we never need a heat treatment again, Susan would be the first person I called if we did.
