I live in Denver, NC and I had been seeing another local dentist in Denver who retired about 2 years ago. I was looking for a new dentist, and several months ago, I received a local brochure and a coupon of a recently located new dentist named Dr. Andy Pernell who’s dental practice was named Summit Dentistry. After reading Dr. Pernell’s profile which was very good, I called his office for an appointment and was given one within three days. I filled out patient information on line avoiding the procedure of early arrival to complete the form. Upon arrival, staff and Dr. Pernell were very professional and friendly, we talked briefly getting to know each other. Several x-rays of my teeth were taken, a peritoneal test (gum test) to determine gum disease, and a photographic tube for inside view of upper and lower gums and teeth was performed. After his examination, Dr. Parnell discussed is findings with me. It was determined there was a cavity under the crown of two back upper teeth which had not previously been diagnosed by other dentist which had resulted in bone degeneration. With this cavities and bone degeneration there was no other treatment for the teeth, requiring the need for the teeth to be pulled and bone grafts for each tooth to be performed to eliminate the “large hole” where the teeth were extracted. Dr. Pernell was very detailed and thorough with his explanation and gave me three options of treatment. Dr. Pernell was trained and very familiar with the extraction and bone grafting procedure which would be needed. He was very qualified to perform this treatment with local anesthetics, but after detailed discussion, he stated I would be more comfortable with less pain if he referred me to another facility for oral surgery with intravenous medication which cause me to be asleep for the procedure. I feel Dr. Pernell went over and above his professional expectations in his evaluation and treatment for me. I am extremely grateful to him for his thoroughness and expertise which assisted me in determining the a treatment plan avoiding more involved oral bone deterioration. I would highly recommend Dr. Pernell as a personal dentist for any dental treatment with no hesitations at all. At our first meeting, he treated me as he would have one if his personal family members.
