My dog Ritz was allowed to suffer and die slowly over >12 hours under the care of emergi-pet, northport al. At admission I told them my assessment,that he was critical,asked if they could give blood,intubate,ventilator,sedation.They said yes. the first report was stable,routine dog attack. i was relieved. went home and came back in 1.5 hours to in person talk w vet. again reassured me,stable,routine,they see a lot worse,specifically said he was far from needing to be intubated or given blood,no worries. you can not enter facility to see your pet. went home,could not sleep long, called several times during the night, same report,stable asleep.I could pick up at 6a,was there slightly before. he was in cheyne stokes respiratios, near death. ask the tech, said i "just stirred him up" for those wondering why cant i let this go, im trying but exposing this incompetent business is helping my grieving some, and if they claim he was good all night until pickup that is a lie, i have worked in hospitals since 1975, been a RN for >30 years working ICU,PACU,some OR,acute care. that is why i am so upset,i knew what he needed and advocated for him but for whatever reason,maybe $, needed him to stay the shift. so if i can help 1 person in similar circumstances, please tell your dog loving friends. they will not contact me and have deleted my google review. if they can not recognize what critical looks like,they have a bigger problem than me writing about it
