Our cabinets are accurate reproductions of wood radio cabinets from the 1930's and 40s, assembled by hand using the finest hardwoods, finishes and audio components available.
I love old radios and also love making stuff out of wood. When I retired five years ago, I took up woodworking to stay active. After polishing my woodworking skills by building furniture for my two daughters along with a variety of boxes, clocks and cutting boards, I hit upon the idea of combining woodworking and another passion, music, to create hand-made wood radios with modern Bluetooth amplifiers and...Viola! I had a new career! Or at least a new hobby. I set up shop in Seattle and our garage was soon overflowing with tools, wood, dust and vintage radios.
I build Rocketman radio sets by hand to precise standards with the end goal of creating custom, one-of-a-kind vintage radio reproductions that look and sound good enough to become coveted family heirlooms. The stereo amplifiers, speakers and Bluetooth devices that go into Rocketman radio sets are of the highest quality and sourced exclusively from U.S. vendors.
It takes 4 to 6 weeks to build a radio set. I keep a small inventory of radios on hand that can ship in a few days. but most of the sets we sell are custom made and require 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
