Routh Signs was established by Ray Routh in 1950. As a sign painter for the army during WWII, he mastered his skills in the art of hand lettering. After the war, he and his wife settled on Randleman Road in Greensboro, NC where he opened his business with a large two-bay building able to accommodate any size vehicle of that time.He worked hard through the years, and as painting methods changed, so did the faces of his employees. In 1980, Mr. Routh hired a then 19-year-old John Humble to work for the company. Seeing something special in John, Mr. Routh decided to lease the company to him in 1984 and sold the business to him shortly after. For over 30 years, John has worked tirelessly to improve and increase the growth of the company. John’s first years of hand lettering and spray painting would soon give way to computer graphics. The company took its first step towards this new age of graphics in 1985 and continued to upgrade with new advances in technology.John expanded the company to its new location at 318-B Creek Ridge Rd. in 2000. The larger and more modern facility helps ensure that the needs of every customer are met.
