I scheduled a carpet cleaning service for 4 bedrooms and 1 stairwell with Safe-Dry using their online scheduling. The price quoted online was $145 for 4 rooms and 1 stairwell to be completed on 11/12/2022. We were having this service done on this date as part of move out of our rental home. I understand there may be added fees or if the condition of the carpet would require a different type of service, however nothing said the pricing was based on square footage as measurements were not requested, only number of rooms and stairwells to be cleaned. At the time of the appointment, my husband was at the house to let the technician in, and the technician quoted $660 based on square footage. My husband was not aware of the difference between the online quote and the new price. The confirmation email of the quote did not say the final price would be based on square footage, and we would not have scheduled with this company had we been made aware of the final price being over 4 times the cost of the initial quote, and based on our time constraints of needing to have this completed before the end of our lease, we would have been unable to schedule with another service with another company. I called Safe-Dry office and asked to be speak with the manager who refused to give me his name even after I gave him my name, and explained to him the situation. Despite the reservation being under my name; my email, and my phone number, they did not make any attempt to contact me with the price change. My husband was only there to be present so the technician could enter the home to provide the service. The manager’s response was “your husband agreed to it, so that is your problem.” When I told him o planned to dispute this, he told me to “tell them I said Hi!”. I have never experienced such deceptive practices, and such unprofessional treatment of its customers. I do not dispute a service was provided, however I am seeking a reasonable adjustment of the charges.
