The purpose of this message is to provide my insights and feedback after having to make the hardest decision of end-of-life care for my fur family member. In no way is this a critique of the veterinarians/staff at Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists To begin with, the treating medical professionals were pragmatic and sensitive when going over various treatment options. At the same time there was consistently an overemphasis on cost. When there was an estimate to be provided you can bet that the admins were on it. For what I paid and would have paid, if the circumstances had been different, I expected technical competency in addition to alternative over-the-rainbow options. When I asked about hospice to provide a more intimate transition for my fur baby they responded vaguely and without knowledge. I would like to challenge this facility to invest in educating themselves about what’s available as far as end-of-life is concerned, including hospice, grief counseling and over-the-rainbow rooms.
