TolduBid uses a very simple bid-purchasing system. This is important because it helps to ensure that the winning bid stays below the retail purchase price for the highest bidder.
The first thing you need to do is register with TolduBid so that you can purchase your Bid Package. Each bid costs 60-cents and is sold in package increments of 100. You can purchase up to 1,000 bids. You must be registered with TolduBid and have purchased your bid package before you start bidding, but it?s worth your while because every bid you buy increases your chances of winning!
Bidding
Once you?ve purchased your bid package, you?re ready to enter the auction arena! You can either scroll through our numerous individual auction items or choose a category, such as ?electronics?. Once you find the object you want to bid on you can either use our 1-click ?Bid Now? option or select the item to see more information. By viewing the item, you?ll get more detailed information on the product including a description, list of features, the buy-back price, and bidding history.
Clock Countdown
The timer?s countdown is determined by the activity of the bidding. Every time a bid is placed, 10 seconds is added to the clock. This gives other bidders the opportunity to bid on the item before the auction closes. The clock winds down after the last bid is entered and activity for that item ends. Sometimes bidding will start back up again right at the last few seconds.
If you win the auction, you can collect your prize by going to ?My Account? and clicking on ?My Wins?. TolduBid will ship your item to you free of charge.
Special Features and Bidding Tools
TolduBid has a number of special tools that will enhance your auction strategies and bidding experience.
Buy it Now = If you don?t win, you have the option to purchase the item at its ?Buy it Now? price. Simply buy the item outright and your bids will be credited back to your account so you can use them for another auction. You can also combine the bid amount you?ve used during this particular auction towards the ?Buy it Now? purchase price. Bid credits can only be used on the object up for that auction. There is no mixing and matching.
The TolduBid Automatic Bidder = This handy feature will place your bids for you using a strategic timing technique. Each Automatic Bidder will use a limited number of bids that you set the parameters for. The Automatic Bidder can be activated or canceled at any time during an open auction.
You can start this feature by selecting the ?Automatic Bidder? button from any of the live auction items. Only one Automatic Bidder can be used per auction.
Wild Card Bidding = Usually, outside bidding closes after the auction item reaches $5.00 in bids, but with Wild Card Bidding Auctions you can jump in at any time ? there is no bidding constraint in terms of the countdown clock. This feature is only available on auctions that are marked with the Wild Card Bidding button. There is also the added bonus of being able to buy down the time on the clock at the rate of 20 bids per second (depending on the item?s value) to increase your chances of winning the auction.
With Wild Card Bidding, there are risks ? it is essentially an all-or-none gamble. You cannot retrieve your bids after the auction closes, and there is no Buy it Now option. However if you win a Wild Card Bidding Auction, you will receive a prize in bids (not cash) equivalent to the final bid cash price and TolduBid will purchase your winning item for you (only items over $100). We suggest that only experienced bidders enter the Wild Card Bidding Auctions.
TolduBid also offers special prizes for top bidders. If you?re the Winning Bidder for a particular auction item, you will earn points towards the next tier of bidding. Each time you rise a level, you get a prize of free bids.
Additionally, the bidder with the most auction wins per quarter will receive a prize of 4,000 bids.
