If you were anything like my friends and I growing up, you probably spent a good amount of your time outdoors, imagining a number of fantasy scenarios that all involved ?swords?. Whether they were wielded by knights defending the crown, pirates on the high seas or as futuristic sabers of light in a galaxy far, far away, your swords provided hours of fun and adventure. At Baer Swords, it?s our intent to bring back the enjoyment of swordplay through class sessions that teach the techniques and principles of Western martial arts, allowing you to relive the excitement, while learning an ancient skill and getting some exercise in as well. In response to an overwhelming amount of requests for local swordplay instruction, The Baer Swords School of Western Martial Arts was established in 2015. Located in Kansas City, Baer Swords is the brainchild of sword master and Western Martial Artist Baer Kenney. It was through his wife and co-founder Kat?s support that Baer found the inspiration to begin a unique offering of classes that use the fundamental principles of medieval sword-masters.

I've been going to Baer Swords since the school began! The people there are wonderful, the space is great, and the sword fighting is the most fun exercise around! Baer is a fantastic teacher and you will get to learn an incredibly fun and rewarding sport. The monthly membership is a fantastic value for anyone who would rather spend 4 nights a week fighting than going to the gym!

Excellent dedicated facility for this type of martial arts study. The study groups available include longsword and single handed sword such as rapiers and spaldroons, and sword and buckler.

They are always so friendly. Plus you learn so much. My boyfriend goes and loves it. They do a great job providing equipment and they are surprisingly affordable. They are amazing and kind people. And they offer so many different types of weapons to fight with that it makes each class a hole lot of fun.

Excellent workout using swords. While I prefer short swords, the instruction with the long sword is done very expertly. The instructor is full of energy and knowledge and at times extremely comical.
