About James Cunningham
Indiana State General Agent, James Cunningham, graduated in 2006 from the University of Mount Union in Ohio with a degree in Sports Management and Business Administration. While in college, James was active in football and track and field and gained national collegiate recognition in both sports. After graduation, he worked for a year in finance, and had tryouts for the NFL, AFL, and All American Football League before deciding to join American Income Life Insurance Company. James joined AIL in 2007 and the following year was the #4 General Agent in the Company.
What brought James to AIL? “I was enticed by the opportunity to control my own destiny as well as achieve financial prosperity,” says James. “The advancement opportunity and, most importantly, being able to help change people’s lives is the reason I’m here.”
“I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to run my own organization,” says James, which is the most rewarding aspect of his association with American Income Life. “Our products are designed for those whom I connect with the most; because I come from a blue-collar, lower middle income family. It feels good doing something I believe in and having the opportunity to help those who need it the most. If I could start all over again with American Income Life, I would do NOTHING differently.”
When James had his second interview with American Income Life, he knew it was the right fit for him. Recalls James, “I knew AIL was the Company that would give me the opportunity I was looking for. Once I had the chance to meet individuals who worked in the organization and learn about the leadership and direction of the Company … it was all I needed.”
What advice would James give to others considering a sales career with AIL? “If you care about people,” says, James, “and have the willingness to be taught, this Company will give you everything you put into it and more. It doesn’t matter what your background is as long as you are serious about achieving whatever will make you happy in your work and personal life. AIL is a way to achieve it.”
As a strong supporter of his church and a well-rounded individual, James realizes there is more to life than just work, however. “My main interests in life are to have a relationship with God, to keep my beautiful wife Marissa happy, and to be the best father I can be for my daughter Cianna and my son Kaylem. Staying in shape and eating right are also part of my routine. The legacy I leave behind is very important to me as well.”
