I would have to say building with Kensington was one of the worst decisions I've made in some time. There was such a lack of detail that it took at least 5 rounds of blue print drawings and review. I would send bullet point emails (because we built from out of state) by page number on what we would like changed or cut. It took 3 rounds just to remove a niche by the fireplace. If you are expecting your custom home builder to provide any creativity or suggestions on anything, this is not the builder for you. One thing that is important to me is integrity. After working with this group, I have learned they have none. Since we built long distance, there was an extensive paper trail so luckily I could either remind them or call them out on a few things. On more than one occasion, they went back on what they specifically said. After seeing the inspiration picture, the builder decided a $5500 budget was appropriate. Turns out the quoting was inaccurate and it cost $8200. He mentioned that they would absorb the overage, which I thought was admirable. Once the relationship became downright toxic, they went back on their word. If you are a detailed person or just like regular status updates on the progress of your build, this builder is not for you. It would take weeks for a reply and usually the reply only contained vague answers. Speaking of details, they built our entire roof wrong. They decided to submit our plans before we ever signed off on them. We changed the design of the standard ceiling to be a cathedral. That didn't make their "final" drawings which in turn delayed our build easily 2 months. I can not beg you enough to reconsider building with them. Go with literally anyone else to save yourself from months and months of stress and no sleep. We had friends that built with Hulbert Homes and it was a dream compared to the horror this company put my family through. I promise you it is not worth it and I'm shocked they are allowed to stay under the AR Homes umbrella.
