“Communication is crucial. I remember my first customer. She was surprised that I was calling to tell her I was going to be about five minutes late. She was even more surprised when I called her after the job to get her feedback. She’s still a customer of mine. Karma — what you give, you receive. I found a little, old lady during hurricane Sandy, and she was cold. Her power was out, and her heat was not working. I took the generator out of my truck and hooked up her heating. I told her not to touch anything and to call me when her lights came back on. When her lights came back on, she called me and I got everything put back to normal. When she asked how much she owed me, I said, ‘Nothing, you remind me of my grandmother.’ Her relative is the one that got us the generator deal.”
