I used this company to have my mother’s body embalmed and transported to NY to another funeral establishment. The embalmer at the other establishment made the following remarks below. The body of ******** arrived at LaGuardia Airport via Delta Airlines on February 7th, 2022 from E. Vaughn Wray Funeral Home in Norfolk, Virginia. The Norfolk funeral home shipped her body in what appears to be an already used makeshift shipping container. It looks like it was a cremation tray base with no straps to hold on the top lid securely and they utilized wood and a used combination shipping lid inside out that already had shipping information written on it from prior use. The inside-out lid has the flight information from the previous remains sent still on it. The embalming was not adequate. Ms. ******** remains were not suitably preserved in the following locations: her right ear, right forearm, right back of her hand, the right lower leg from the knee down was showing signs of decomposition, very soft and leaking. The shipping funeral home didn’t place her in satisfactory plastic undergarments which is customary. The groin area was wrapped in what looked like discarded dry cleaner’s garment plastic and had the paper advertisement still attached. Ms. *********** hair was matted and still in braids, it does not appear that it was properly washed during the embalming procedure. The right side of her cheek and jaw were wrinkled and soft possibly from being distended along with her right eyelid and area to the right side of her eye, Multiple hours were spent by ******** applying corrective measures to mitigate, where necessary, and correct where possible the affected areas prior to services in New York. If I had known this company would have handled my mother’s body this way I would never have used them.
