Edit: Hey it's next year, and time to order my contacts! I WAS down to the last pair but now I'm completely out as I still haven't been able to get a valid and accurate script from my good friend Dr Ting. Why? Well at the beginning of last month I tried! I put in my doctor's information on my insurance's website and off went the order! Easy stuff. Until Dover Eye Care got involved... Apparently they only make their prescriptions valid for 30 days unless you call and tell the doctor you like it. I mean.. Understandable. I have been wearing these same exact contacts since 2019, but some people might have just started and an across-the-board policy like that isn't entirely unheard of. I guess I'll call DEC and ask them to convert the script, right? Yes! They're going to get right on it. Hallelujah! I can rest easily... 24 hours later, my script is still expired according to the contact vendor? Oh and my order is now cancelled as I've taken too long. Call up DEC to find out Dr Ting is out for the week! Good to know, I guess I'll get the new script Monday (it is now Friday so just the weekend to wait). Monday morning I get a call in the AM but I'm working. I call back that PM, and I finally have a copy of the script in my email! It's only good for 30 days, but hey it's something! I reorder my contacts online, only now I'm on my last pair. Time goes by... The order gets cancelled again!? We're now going on two weeks... I check the order, everything is correct, and I move on. Re-place the order with overnight shipping as it's getting tight! Now it's yesterday. I get an email from the contact vendor. I ordered Acuvue Vita, but the prescription says Acuvue Oasys. Which is weird, when I switched off of Oasys I had never physically been to Dover as it was over 3 years ago. I called in yesterday to get THAT fixed with 24 hours until my order got cancelled AGAIN. When I didn't get a callback I decided to call again today. Dr Ting is out for a week... AGAIN. That's half the month. I was promised a call back from the office manager. The manager told me they have NEVER prescribed Vitas in house. Apparently I'm wrong and I used a whole DIFFERENT type of contact (news to me as I've used the same two kinds my entire life but ok). I'm told they can make me a new appointment for contacts and that's it. They just want more money... ----------------------------------------------- Original review: I was so excited! I finally got health insurance, I'm 28 and it's the first time I've been able to afford it since I became an adult! The glasses I have I got when I was 15, I've just taken really good care of them over the years. It took a lot to find an eye doctor that took my insurance. Apparently having vision insurance is rare these days? This country is doing great. Dover eye Care was the answer. I called ahead to be sure, they told me they took my insurance and I would be able to get everything done that same day. Yay! I pulled up about 5 minutes late. Front desk was almost understanding, a little tart but I get it. My nurse was great! My doctor however was simply in a bad mood. No bedside manner, and got visibly offended when I wasn't able to let her invert my eyelid for the first time ever with almost no warning. I've never actually seen a doctor act like that, but there she was getting upset because I couldn't stay still while she flipped my eyelid. Got past that and now I'm walking to get my glasses! I sat down with the girl in that section, she wanted to get started but I asked again about my insurance. Turns out, even though Dover Eye Care advertises themselves as a One-Stop shop for glasses, their glasses... Department? Does not accept my insurance. This is after I called ahead to make sure they did. So now I've wasted my yearly eye exam, and I'm forced to either roll the dice and buy glasses online, or pay out of pocket for another eye exam with a more honest eye doctor. I will not be back, they blatantly lied to me to get my business and that is a bad way to operate. I'll go to Costco next time and save the heartache.
